According to the Louisiana Department of Health, at least 17 people who were on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship in New Orleans have tested positive for Covid-19, including one probable case of Omicron.

The Norwegian Breakaway just completed a cruise from New Orleans to Mexico, with more than 3,200 people on board.
A Norwegian Cruise Line spokesman told Forbes that a South African crew member was in isolation for the entire cruise.
The ship arrived in New Orleans on Sunday before setting sail on another cruise, with the company saying all guests who tested positive will travel by vehicle to their personal residence or self-isolate in accommodations provided by Norwegian.
Norwegian told Forbes that it would give refunds to all customers who wanted to cancel their cruise.
All guests and crew are required to be fully vaccine free.

Guests on the Norwegian Breakaway cruise will be tested twice on the cruise and must wear masks when not eating or drinking.
Most countries, including the U.S., shut down all operations after the Covid superspreader spread in early 2020. The Diamond Princess, a cruise ship, was the location of hundreds of passengers who were notably infectious, and former President Donald Trump was angry that 14 U.S. citizens were allowed back in the country in February 2020. The CDC issued a no sail order on March 14, 2020 and halted all cruises from the U.S. ports. When the federal government allowed a few test cruises in the summer of 2021, cruises would not resume until summer of 2021.
The number is big.
1,358. The CDC reported that from June 26 to October 21 there were at least six confirmed Covid cases. Most of those were breakthrough cases.

The CDC report shows that cruises have reported more than 1,300 covid cases since June.
