Italy’s Unvaccinated Face More Restrictions Ahead Of Holidays As Covid-19 Cases Rise

Italy introduced a series of tough new restrictions for unvaccinated people Monday as officials move to contain rising levels of Covid-19, the latest in a string of targeted measures across Europe as governments ramp up the pressure on vaccine holdouts.
Many public venues in Italy will need proof of vaccine or recovery.

A green pass, which shows proof of full vaccination or recent recovery from Covid-19, will be required for many leisure activities as of Monday.

The green pass that the unvaccinated can get with a negative test within the past 48 hours will be needed to use public transport and hotels.
The $450 fine for using a bus, metro, tram or train without a health pass is automatic.
The measures, announced in late November, strengthen and expand existing rules in place across the country and officials hope they will stave off the worst of the coronaviruses wave sweeping through Europe.
Despite having one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, Covid-19 cases are rising in Italy and are at their highest level since April.
Some 79% of the population have received at least one jab, 73% have been fully vaccined, and 14 have had an additional booster dose, with children ages 5-11 set to be vaccinations later in December.
Italy's vaccine or testing requirements, including the ongoing requirement for all workers to prove recovery, a recent negative test or vaccination, were among the strictest in Europe and the rest of the world when first introduced. The EU has increased the pressure on the unvaccinated and reinstituted restrictions as the number of coronaviruses has risen to record levels. Germany and Austria, which have some of the lowest vaccination rates in Europe, have decided to make the shots compulsory for all adults.
Surprising fact.

The Italian man is facing charges of fraud after trying to get a health pass by pretending to inject the vaccine into a fake arm. The health worker noticed that the man's arm didn't match his skin tone, and that it was a fake.
Germany is considering making shots compulsory for unvaccinated people.

Austria has sent unvaccinated people into lockdown.
