The man had facial injuries, a tooth damage and a bruise.

The Bristol Rovers boss was found not guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm after a trial.

During the trial, Mr Stendel said he was walking down the tunnel in the corner of the Oakwell Stadium after his side's 4-2 victory against Fleetwood Town.

He said he was knocked over by a push from behind and hit his face on the metal structure.

The video footage showed Mr Barton entering the tunnel followed by Mr Stendel.

In his testimony, Mr Barton denied being aggressive towards his opponent and stated that he did not recall ever meeting anyone in the tunnel.

He denied there were any tensions between them during the match, but admitted using "industrial language" after the handshake.

Mr Barton ran past Nathan Kirby and "shoulder-barge" Mr Stendel.

Even if it had been an accident, it was possible for Mr Barton to have been unaware of what happened, according to Mr Barton's barrister.
