On Sunday, the Minnesota Democrat called the House Minority Leader a liar and said the Republican Party was normalizing anti-Muslim bigotry.
In November, Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, implied that the Muslim lawmaker was a terrorist.
In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday, the Democrat said it was shocking and unacceptable. It's not right for a congresswoman to use that kind of language against a colleague. Many of us thought we were on the mend after 9/11.
McCarthy said on Friday that House Republicans would not take any action against Boebert after she apologized for calling a person a suicide bomber.
The Recount is on December 5, 2021.
Boebert apologized to anyone in the Muslim community she offended, but later in a video she called the Minnesota lawmaker anti-American.
"McCarthy is a liar and a Coward," said the lawmaker. He doesn't have the power to condemn the kind of bigotry and anti-Muslim rhetoric that is being peddled by a member of his conference.
She continued, "Because this is who they are." We have to be able to stand up for ourselves. We have to convince them that their party is anti-Muslim.
McCarthy hasn't commented or responded to the comments of the person.
When she was first elected to Congress, she said she received phone calls from world leaders who thought America was past its post-9/11 Islamophobia.
She said that seeing this happen in the halls of Congress is damaging to the kind of country she wants to be.
