After the United's first home clean sheet since April, Rangnick said he was particularly pleased with the performance, and that he was particularly pleased with the role played byRonaldo.

The clean sheet was the most important part of the game, as the way we defended made it so.

"Cristiano's work off the ball, chapeau."

The way the team performed, especially the first half hour, was exceptional. There was only one thing missing.

These are the things we need to improve. We have to keep the sheets clean. I was really impressed with the one training session. We did better than expected.

Fred scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute after a fantastic effort which sailed into the top corner off his weaker right foot after United dominated the game.

The result gave United back-to-back wins.

"I asked my assistant coach if that was Fred's right foot, and he said he could only shoot with his left foot," he said. I'm happy for him.

We tried to be on the front foot. We were always close the last five minutes. We were trying to keep them away from our goal.

It's easier to build on things after they're successful. We need to get better at creating chances for our attack. I was very pleased with how we played today.
