The QBR for the Jets in the first and second quarters is historically low.

There is a look at what's happening around the New York Jets.
1. The quarterback has a serious case of the first-quarter yips. The second quarter was also included.
In the first quarter, the rookies has completed 10 of 28 passes for 75 yards and no touchdown. His QBR is 0.7 out of 100.
It's worth noting that no quarterback in recent memory has experienced this kind of decline, so you can chalk it up to inexperience and say it's just part of the maturation process.
Wilson's first-quarter passer rating is 499th out of 499, according to the data from the website. He's 499th in first- and second-quarter QBR, with no touchdown and seven interceptions.
Wilson is a bit late with his reads, but he will grow up with more time and reps. The focus of the rest of the season will be on the importance of eye placement and footwork.
Wilson said it's getting comfortable and settled in. There's no one thing to point at. I don't think it needs to be a point of emphasis because the harder it becomes, the more you put on it. I have to play ball. I have to come out ripping it from the beginning.
2. Do you believe in luck? The Jets have been around for 62 years, but they are still looking for their first victory.
They're 0-11 against the Eagles, which is the worst record by a team against an opponent in the history of the league. There are only two instances of a team being worse against their opponent. The Houston Texans have lost to the Vikings and Eagles.
"I didn't know it was 0-11," Hall said. What a great chance to change that.
3. The Jets are trying something different on defense.
Hall moved from side to side to follow a specific receiver in the last two games. He didn't do it on every play. It was mostly on third down against the Texans. He said it was a huge honor and he took it very seriously.
The coaches were against using a corner to travel, but then they allowed 175 points in a four-game span. A coach's mindset can be impacted by a debacle of that magnitude.
The Jets have a player follow the opposing team's best receiver.
4. The Eagles visited the park for a couple of days of joint practices with the Jets, and my memory is that of the Eagles' defensive line manhandling the Jets. If things have changed on Sunday, that will be a sign. The offensive line played its best game last week, so its confidence is high.
5. The Jets are thrilled with the addition of safety Elijah Riley, whom they signed off the Eagles' practice squad after Marcus Maye's season-ending injury. There was a lot of work that went into it.
Joe Douglas tried to acquire Riley from the Eagles. They got more information from the safeties coach and the director of game management who worked for the Eagles.

Alan Herman, Riley's New York-based agent, played a key role in lobbying Douglas on behalf of his client as far back as the joint practices. The Jets were the ideal place for Riley to be because he deserved to be on an active roster. When Maye got hurt, Herman moved quickly to get a deal done before the Eagles used a practice-squad protection tag on Riley. The designation was used every week by the Eagles.
It's a reunion for Riley. He attended his first Jets' preseason game as a spectator, after visiting the team's training camps on Long Island and upstate. He graduated from West Point and stayed in the area for college. His intelligence and passion have impressed his new teammates.
Riley said that he feels like a little kid when he's on the field. I've been playing since I was 7 years old. I have wanted to play at this level since I was a kid. Why don't you approach it with a child-like mentality?
Riley picked up three passes in his first two practices. He was in the starting lineup two weeks later.
6. Ups and downs, Saleh seems to have a good feel for lineup changes. The most recent example was opting for Austin Walter, a mainstay on the practice squad, over La'Mical Perine as the running back. Joe Flacco gave a decent performance in Week 11 despite being the center of attention.
Other promotions/demotions that have worked out are: Quincy Williams for Jarrad Davis at linebacker, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif for Greg Van Roten at right guard, and Riley for Sharrod Neasman/Jarrod Wilson at safety.
7. The man who interviewed for six head-coaching vacancies last January is 0-1 against those teams. The loss was against the Atlanta Falcons. He will have a chance to break his record on Sunday.
The teams love non-QB passes.
No regrets about the draft.
There may be more targets for Edwards-Helaire.

After completing a second interview with the Jets, he was taken to the nearby airport in New Jersey, and then flew to South Florida to meet with the Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. He flew to the West Coast to interview with the Los Angeles Bolts. His phone started blowing up when he heard the Jets were making an offer.
8. The Jets are mired in another kicking mess, and it makes you think back to how good they once were. They blew it by not re-signing the Pro Bowler after the Pro Bowl, but the bad decisions before that. Nick Folk was cut after the 2016 season, but he's been great for New England since.
The Jets? Since Folk, they've used the likes of Sam Ficken, Kaare Vedvik, Chase McLaughlin, and Matt Ammendola. Alex Kessman is next up.
9. Where is the big man? The original timetable for Mekhi's return was three weeks late. You wonder if we've seen the last of him in 2021, because he's still not in shape.
10. Clark Kent would walk around the sidewalk until someone yelled for help. Mike LaFleur is yelling for help when the play breaks down. "Go save him, he has Superman-like powers." -- Saleh on Wilson.
