With the best performance of his career, the young man faced his stiffest competition yet.

On Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena, Haney retained his title with a unanimous-decision victory over Joseph Diaz Jr.

Haney won over the judges with superior activity, a sharp jab and clean punching. The pace was dictated by Haney. The undisputed lightweight title bout with George Kambosos is the next target for the man.

Many of the shots met their mark, but Haney stood his ground. He was able to fire off a left to the body followed by a right hand to the head that kept him at bay. The result was an exciting fight for Haney, who was criticized earlier in his career for playing it too safe in the ring.

"He said he was going to bring the dog out of me, and that's exactly what he did," said Haney, a Las Vegas resident. He hit me with some good shots. I think I showed my chin in this fight.

After his last performance, the punch resistance of Haney was questioned. The championship rounds had to be tough on Haney because he was buckled at the end of Round 10.

Haney claimed that he was never hurt in the bout on Saturday.

"We had some great exchanges," he said. I was willing to exchange with him. I want to entertain the fans.

One step closer to his ultimate goal, Haney accomplished that goal and moved one step closer to the undisputed lightweight championship.

George Kambosos Jr., who upset Teofimo Lopez in New York a week ago, was in Las Vegas to scout his next opponent.

Kambosos, who has four 135-pound titles, said he saw many things. I've been studying this guy for a long time. If that fight is next, I know what to do.

Kambosos said he was looking forward to watching the lightweight contest between Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz in Los Angeles and the boxing match between Richard Commey and Vasiliy Lomachenko in New York.

He said that it came down to what excited him the most.

The fight will be in his homeland, Australia, if Kambosos chooses.

If I get to Jupiter, I'll go there. Let's do it for all the belts, George Kambosos. The undisputed champion. Next, let's do it. There is no longer a dispute with who is the champion.
