The SEC Championship Game had a lot of College Playoff implications, and the Alabama Crimson Tide came out on top.

Georgia likely had already secured a top-four spot despite the loss to Alabama.

Alabama has played in 14 SEC Championship Games, including three of the last five. The SEC's best and 10th overall championship has been won by it for the second year in a row.

The conference title game is where the Tide are 10-4.

Young had already done enough damage to help his Heisman Trophy resume, even after the offense slowed down.

Young's performance against Georgia may have made him the front-runner for the award, as he shredded what had been the best defense in all of college football:

Georgia defense doesn't live up to the hype.

The Georgia defense allowed 230.4 yards and 6.9 points per game. The expectations that the team had established during the regular season were not met against the Tide.

Georgia's defense entered Saturday's game allowing just 151.5 passing yards per game, but Young nearly tripled that mark.

Before the SEC championship game, the Georgia defense was allowing just 78.9 rushing yards per contest. Alabama ran for 116 yards.

Their impressive regular-season statistics should be applauded, but they may have been fueled by the unranked or low ranked teams they faced. Tennessee and Florida were some of the best offenses the Bulldogs played.

The Gators have averaged 470.2 yards of total offense per game, while the Volunteers have averaged 459 yards per contest. Georgia faced many teams that didn't come close.

Bennett's play didn't help either, as he threw two picks, one of which Alabama returned for a touchdown. If the Georgia defense plays like they did on Saturday, the national title hopes will be over.

What's next?

The teams are most likely to make the playoffs. They await the official brackets.
