If the media praises the Alabama Crimson Tide and they are an under-estimation by the oddsmakers, then Georgia must play them.

After a loss to Alabama in the SEC championship game, the Georgia team looked like the second-best team in the league.

Georgia has lost to Alabama seven times in a row, including four at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Kirby Smart lost to his former mentor, Alabama's Nick Saban.

It was the same outcome for Georgia fans against Alabama.

Smart said that it didn't do any damage. "What it did was make us feel better." It recenters you, right? When the Tide lost their game against Texas A&M, they got some attention. That's an opportunity for a wake-up call.

The four teams chosen for the playoffs on Sunday are expected to be the same ones that lost.

"That's not for us to determine that, you know what I mean?" Smart said. It's not our job to determine that, I feel like we are. It's the committee's.

After allowing 6.9 points per game in the first 12 games, the defense was gashed for five straight possessions by the Tide. Georgia had surrendered 231 per game before Saturday, while Alabama had 536 yards of total offense. The Tide scored 17 points against the Bulldogs, which was more than they had surrendered before.

The Georgia offense had The team went just 3-for-12 on third downs.

"I'm disappointed with how we played," Smart said. Alabama has a lot of credit. Give their defense and their offensive skill players a lot of credit. They played very well, and Young is hard to get down on the ground, which caused us a lot of problems defensively. We can't turn the ball over and give up passes of over 70 yards. We've executed well for most of the year. We didn't execute well tonight, and that had a lot to do with them.

Alabama's success against Georgia was surprising because the Tide struggled to move the ball in their last game, a 24-22 victory in four overtimes at auburn in the Iron Bowl.

The narrative out there was that they just went to auburn and struggled. Some of the sacks they gave up, their attackers didn't even get out of stance. The noise of the crowd made a big impact. They won a lot of the battles we didn't win because they played man-to-man coverage.

Georgia was unable to get pressure on Young, who threw for 421 yards with three touchdown on 26 for 44 passing. The SEC championship game had the highest passing total in history. Tide receiver Jameson Williams had seven catches.

"He's a great player," Dean said. We knew that was coming in. He's very elusive. He runs the offense well. He did a good job avoiding the pass rush. I feel like the pass rush and the recovery have to work together. He being able to keep his eyes down and make throws helps them.

Georgia hopes history repeats itself from the last time they reached theCFP. In their only loss of the regular season, the bulldogs were thumped 40 17 at auburn. They defeated the Tigers in the SEC championship game.

Georgia might get another shot at Alabama if the playoff brackets are any indication.

Bennett said that they didn't play their best game. They did. Can't turn the ball over. There was a little mental lapse. That can't happen. We're going to work on Sunday. Get ready for whoever we play next.
