Ole Miss Rebels, 'committed to winning championships,' give coach Lane Kiffin new contract

The school announced on Saturday night that Lane Kiffin had agreed to a new contract.

According to sources, Kiffin's new deal will average $7.5 million annually.

The director of the Ole Miss athletics said in a news release that coach Kiffin is the person to lead them to those heights. He has quickly made our team among the best in the nation with his winning edge, offensive vision and recruiting prowess.

With major facility projects on the horizon, we are investing in this program like never before and looking forward to building on the foundation that Coach Kiffin has established."

Kiffin was hired by Ole Miss in December of last year, after he led Florida Atlantic to its second Conference USA championship in three seasons.

In two seasons at Ole Miss, Kiffin has a 15-7 record. The Rebels had their first 10-win regular season in school history under Kiffin.

The destination and opponent of the New Year's Six bowl game will be known on Sunday.
