Lane Kiffin, the head football coach at Ole Miss, decided against taking the latest coaching job.

The university agreed to a new contract with Kiffin, who has led the Rebels to a 10-2 record.

The University of Miami has been linked to Kiffin in the past, with Fox Sports 640 South Florida's Andy Slater saying in November that the 46-year-old would leave if the Hurricanes' job opened up.

Ole Miss appears to be headed for a New Year's Six bowl, as Kiffin is staying in Oxford.

The deal will keep Kiffin in Oxford through the year 2025. The school and Kiffin agreed to a new deal last February, but the details on the coach's contract have not been made public.

Kiffin signed his most recent extension on February 28, 2021. The contract gave Kiffin a base salary of $4.5 million and a $500,000 retention bonus for staying in Oxford. The retention bonus boosted the values by $250,000 each year, leading to a contract worth $5.75 million in 2024.

Lincoln Riley is leaving Oklahoma to USC and Brian Kelly is leaving Notre Dame to LSU.

Kiffin won't be the next coach to create a wave in college coaching.

He led the Rebels to a 5-5 record in his first year in Oxford. Despite a lot of injuries on the offensive side of the ball, the Rebels have doubled their win total. The SEC was crushed this year by Matt Corral's offense.

The Rebels will look to finish the year on a high note in a likely New Year's Six bowl appearance after coach Lane Kiffin was rewarded for his team's success. Ole Miss will play Pitt in the Peach Bowl according to projections by Jerry Palm.
