Alabama's mastery of Georgia and the fact that the Tide is in the College Football Playoff for the third year in a row are not different.

Young threw three touchdown passes and ran for another in Alabama's 41-24 win over Georgia in the SEC championship game.

Four of Alabama's wins over Georgia have been in Atlanta, including the SEC championship game and the national championship game. The Alabama offense rolled up 536 total yards and the Alabama defense was never able to stop Young and his teammates.

Georgia's defense, stocked with future first-round NFL draft picks and considered by many to be one of the best in college football in recent years, had allowed a total of seven touchdown in 44 quarters entering the game. Alabama scored three first-half points, and then Jordan Battle returned a Bennett interception 42 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Tide a 38-17 lead.

The SEC title was Alabama's sixth in the past eight years, and the Tide will be going back to the College Football Playoff for the seventh time in eight years.

This was the first time in 92 games that Alabama had been an underdog.

It was the most wins by a coach against a top-ranked team in the AP poll era, which dates back to 1936.

Young, who set an SEC championship game record with Georgia jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but Alabama responded with 24 points in the second quarter, the most points scored in any quarter in an SEC championship game.

The offensive line was equally good. Alabama struggled to protect Young in the four-overtime win over Auburn, and he was sacked seven times. Young had clean pockets from which to throw the football and he was able to do it against the Georgia defense.

He made plays when he didn't have a pocket.

John Metchie III, one of Alabama's top receivers, didn't return after sustaining a leg injury in the first half. The Georgia secondary was shredded by Jameson Williams, who had seven catches for 184 yards and two touchdown.

Bennett had 340 passing yards and three touchdown. The Dawgs had a chance to make a comeback in the third quarter, but they couldn't take advantage of two red-zone trips.

Georgia had not been in a close game all season until Saturday. They were unable to stop Young, they failed to finish key drives on offense, and they never figured out a way to slow him down.

The Dawgs will still be in the College Football Playoff despite their loss. The announcement will come from the selection committee.
