CNN fires Chris Cuomo over his involvement in his brother Andrew's sexual harassment scandal

Chris Cuomo was fired by CNN after it was revealed that he used his media sources to help his brother. Andrew Cuomo is accused of sexual harassment.

Chris was suspended by the news network on November 30 after the New York Attorney General's office released transcripts showing the extent of Chris' efforts to defend his brother.

CNN terminated the law firm that was hired to conduct the review immediately, it said in a statement Saturday evening. Additional information has come to light during the review. We will investigate despite the fact that they terminated us.

The network didn't say what new information had surfaced.

Chris said CNN's decision was "disappointing."

"This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother," the statement said. "So let me say that I am very disappointed but I am also very proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN's #1 show in the most competitive time slot."
Chris had previously apologized for coaching his brother through the sexual harassment scandal, and he wouldn't be covering it anymore.

Chris used his media sources to dig up information about his brother's accuser, according to the newly released transcripts.

Chris wrote in a text message that he had a lead on the wedding girl.

Ruch was the subject of a New York Times article in March detailing unwanted advances she said Andrew made on her at a wedding.

CNN denied that the anchor dictated his brother's statements in a statement to Insider.

The claim that Chris dictated his brother's statements is false, according to a representative for Warner Media. There is no evidence of this in the exhibits. If you read through the text messages, you'll see that any mention of a statement was in response to the public release of it.

Cuomo started out as a guest on cable and TV networks before landing his first full-time gig as a correspondent for Fox News. He co-anchored "Good Morning America" on ABC from 2006 to 2009.
