Oklahoma State would have been in the College Football Playoff with a win. The Cowboys are fifth in the rankings, with all four teams playing Saturday.

Georgia and Alabama were guaranteed to lose in the SEC Championship Game.

During the first half, it looked like the Bears were going to roll. The Bears' quarterback completed his first 17 passes, three of which were for scores, to give them a 21-3 lead.

The Bears scored 21 first-half points, but were shut out in the second half.

Oklahoma State was its own worst enemy for most of the game. Some of the picks were the result of bad luck. He hit Brennan Presley in the third quarter with a pass that was thrown a little off target, but he fumbled the ball and it was picked off by Brayden Utley.

Oklahoma State recovered Jackson's fumbled handoff after he got down to the 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter. It settled for a field goal to cut the deficit to 21-16.

The game would end with that. Oklahoma State lost for the second time this season. Its 11 wins are its most since 2011.

The Big 12 isn't regarded as a defensive conference, but defense was crucial to the success of the Bears.

Even though Oklahoma State was the best defensive team in the conference, it was not enough. The Bears scored 19.4 points per game.

The only team to score more than 30 points was TCU.

The Bears won the Big 12 title game for the first time in program history, thanks to all of the pieces. They have been an elite team all year and will have a chance to end the season ranked in the Top 10 for the first time in four years with a win in the bowl game.

The Oklahoma State defense allowed Shapen to throw for over 150 yards in the first half.

The defense seemed to like whatever head coach Mike Gundy said during the halftime break. In the second half, Shapen made six attempts for 29 yards.

Oklahoma State's offense moved the ball better in the second half, but there was still a lack of consistency that made a huge difference on the final drive.

The defense forced a turnover on downs early in the third quarter to help set up the Cowboys' first touchdown drive.

Special teams looked like they would work in Oklahoma State's favor. Korie Black recovered a punt return that was mishandled by the Bears' Trestan Ebner, which resulted in a Cowboys turnover.

In crunch time, Gundy showed tremendous confidence in his defense. Despite trailing by five points, he punted the ball away from his own 31 with 3:51 remaining.

The strategy paid off when Oklahoma State forced a three-and-out to get the offense back on the field.

The Cowboys looked like they were going to pull off a miracle win. They gained 88 yards in 13 plays to set up a first-and-goal from the 2-yard line.

Gundy's play-calling in that situation left a lot to be desired.

Gundy's teams have been defined by their ability to put up points in bunches. He coached a conservative game that hurt his team.

Gundy's decision to run back-to-back plays in the biggest moment of the game was a bad strategy because the Bears were eating you alive all day.

Oklahoma State probably won't make it into the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings.
