Paul Cook sacked by Ipswich after nine months in charge following goalless draw at home to Barrow

Paul Cook was sacked by Ipswich after the FA Cup tie at home to Barrow.

The result means that Ipswich have won just two of their last nine matches, while they have one victory from four in League One.

The 11th place team is seven points behind the last place team and 11 points behind the leaders.

Paul Cook has been relieved of his duties.

The club's chief executive said that they would like to thank Paul and his team for their efforts in what has been a difficult transition period.

I know how much Paul wanted to succeed. We decided a change is needed for our long-term interests after discussions with the board.

There is no one lined up to replace Paul. There will be an extensive search to find the best replacement.

Cook signed a contract to be the boss of Ipswich until the summer of 2023.

The next game for Ipswich is away to Charlton on Tuesday, followed by a trip to Wigan and a home match against Sunderland.
