Jessica Henwick was one of the bright spots of the partnership. During the first season of Iron Fist, Henwick brought a lot of charm to the show, and she continued to shine in the second season. The show was canceled just as she was getting ready for bigger and better things as the new Iron Fist. It is not uncommon for former actors to return to their previous jobs, but Henwick could have returned sooner than expected.
She told Entertainment Weekly that she was torn between the sci-fi revival and her former superheroic life, since she was a part of the upcoming Matrix Resurrections as new hacker Bugs. She had been offered a chance to screen test for both the film and the television show, just as she had been asked by Warner Bros. to do a chemistry read with the actors who would play Morpheus. She recalled that it was a red pill and a blue pill. Both studios said she could only try out for one or the other. It is risky if you don't know if you will get either role.
The Wachowskis' universe was less than certain so Henwick went with Resurrections. Henwick knew that joining The Matrix was not an opportunity that he would get every day. She said that she had a great working relationship with them and that they will never stop making movies. It is just a matter of time before she returns to the MCU as either Colleen or a different character, it is just a matter of time.
She found working with director Lana Wachowski to be interesting, and she was happy with her choice of Resurrections. In one moment, Wachowski would be filming another actor, and then turn the camera on her. You should be ready to go if you were in the scene. When the cameras weren't rolling, Wachowski would take the cast to dance parties or art excursions to bring everyone together. Nothing brings people together like dancing in a club and pondering an artist's intent behind their painting.
On December 22, The Matrix Resurrections will be available on DVD and VHS.
