A source told Jeremy Fowler that the Seattle Seahawks will put Adrian Peterson on the practice squad for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Seahawks signed the 36-year-old to their practice squad earlier this week as a reinforcement for their banged-up backfield.

The Tennessee Titans signed him last week after losing their star to a broken foot. He carried the ball 27 times and scored a touchdown.

The fifth-ranked running back in NFL history has 14,902 career rushing yards. He spent his first 10 seasons with Minnesota and then went to Arizona, New Orleans, Washington, Detroit and finally Tennessee.

The league average for rushing yards per game is 92.50. They've been without their top running back since Week 5 because of a neck injury that required surgery. Alex Collins has only topped 50 yards in one of the seven games he has played in.

Brady Henderson's information was used in the report.
