Two Disney Legends Are Tackling an Animated DC Movie

It is not every day that two of the most famous directors in animation history jump into the world of comic books. Ron and John are looking to make an animated movie based on the DC series Metal Men.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the pair has collaborated with writer Celeste Ballard on the project. There is no word on whether this would be a Warner Bros. theatrical or for HBO Max.

The concept of Metal Men has some real potential and has been brought back to life over the years. The story was created in the early 1960s by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru and followed a brilliant scientist who created six intelligent robots that were made of gold, iron, lead, and tin. There is no word on what the directors have planned, but if you look at the director's previous works, a family-friendly adventure with heart and humor seems likely.

According to the trade, this isn't the first time Warner Bros. tried to make a Metal Men movie. In the early 2000s, a live action version was in the works with big-time names such as Lauren Shuler Donner and Barry Sonnenfeld. This version feels like it has a good chance of solidifying, as Warner Bros. is going through its DC properties to spread across all its mediums. Another metal pun.
