The Portland Trail blazers have a vacant general manager position after Neil Olshey was fired.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports says that both Eversley and Perry are expected to be considered for the Portland GM job. The interim general manager is Joe Cronin.

Olshey was fired by the Blazers on Friday after an investigation found that he created a hostile work environment.

Olshey was the general manager of the Blazers and also the president of basketball operations. Portland only got past the first round three times during Olshey's tenure, despite reaching the playoffs in each of the past eight seasons.

The team is off to an inconsistent start. The presence of Damian Lillard could make the GM job attractive.

The Knicks reached the playoffs last season, thanks to the efforts of the general manager, who helped build a roster that was the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. New York had not made the playoffs in seven years.

If he is given more control over personnel decisions, it may be worth it if he goes from the 11-11 Knicks to the 11-11 Blazers.

Leon Rose is the team president and he is the one who makes the decisions in the front office.

Eversley was named the Bulls GM last year after a long career in front-office.

The Chicago Bulls acquired guards DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball in the off-season, adding them to a core that already included LaVine and Vucevic.

The Bulls are one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season, as they are second in the Eastern Conference at 15-8 after missing the playoffs in each of the previous four campaigns.

Eversley doesn't have carte blanche over roster decisions in Chicago, as he has to work with the vice president of basketball operations.

The power that Olshey had within the organization could make the Blazers a good choice for a bigger role.
