NASA Paying Blue Origin $130 Million for New Space Station, Even After Its Ugly Lawsuit

NASA awarded a company a multi-million dollar contract to design a new space station.

Blue Origin was one of three companies chosen by NASA to design new commercial destinations in space. The total amount awarded is more than $400 million.

Blue Origin will receive $130 million, followed by the other two with the other receiving $128.6 million.
NASA is partnering with US companies to develop space destinations where people can visit, live, and work in order to continue forging a path in space for the benefit of humanity.

NASA wants to replace the International Space Station with a commercial project.
The agency discovered that the outpost is collapsing. The situation is so bad that NASA is looking at an earlier-than-projected obsolescence for some parts of the space station.

A new commercial station is expected to be operational by the year 2028. A new station might not be feasible until after 2030. There could be a time when NASA doesn't have a human presence in space.
If Blue Origin can avoid getting into legal drama along the way, it will be able to launch its Orbital Reef into space by 2030.
