New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones won't play in the game against the Miami Dolphins, according to coach Joe Judge.
Jones has not been cleared for contact after he was injured during the Philadelphia Eagles game. Jones was thought to have injured his ankle on the second play, but he said there wasn't really any damage until after the game.
"We're going to hold him out of this game because he hasn't been cleared for contact yet," Judge said. We don't feel comfortable with him until the medical team clears him, so we will rule him out.
"We will evaluate him for the future, including as soon as next week, with the doctors," Judge said. We don't have any answers yet.
Mike Glennon will start in Jones' place. Glennon was a starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020. His last start as a starting quarterback was with the Chicago Bears.
Jake Fromm, who was signed by the Giants this week off the Buffalo Bills' practice squad, will back up Glennon.
Jones has been forced to miss a game three times this season. He missed time with an ankle injury as a young man and an injury in 2020.
Jones has completed 64.3% of his passes this season for 2,428 yards with 10 touchdown and seven interceptions. He has had .
Glennon went 16-of-26 passing for 196 yards with a touchdown and two picks in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
