Adidas wades into the metaverse in partnership with Bored Ape Yacht Club and other NFT communities

The metaverse has a brand name called Adidas.
The company is partnering with prominent figures in the space, including the Bored Ape Yacht Club founder, the NFT comics Punks Comic, and Gmoney.

The announcement includes a link to the Adidas website and a 29-second clip of a new Bored Ape character.

The company told Insider that the metaverse is an interesting platform for Adidas. We will return to you with more information in due course.

The sportswear brand is not known what it is doing. The barcode on the metaverse tab on the website will prompt users to download the Adidas app. The company presents the three NFT pioneers with more information in the app.

"This fall, Adidas, known for celebrating ideas at the bleeding edge of originality, is at the frontier of creativity: The metaverse," it reads on its website. Our goal there? To see the people thrive.

Three people collaborated on a project and took to their social media accounts to tease it.

Adidas changed its profile picture to show a cartoon called Bored Ape wearing Adidas clothing and displaying a logo from the Punks Comic.
The character is Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT #8774, which Adidas purchased in September for 46 ether.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of unique ape NFTs. Stephen Curry, the NBA star, bought pieces from the collection. An exclusive membership pass to the community's various activities can be obtained by owning a Bored Ape NFT.

On November 24, Adidas revealed it had a partnership with the largest US-based digital currency exchange, Coinbase.
