According to data reported to the CDC, approximately 2.18 million doses were administered during the 24 hour period ending Thursday.

The White House Covid-19 data director Cyrus Shahpar said on his account that the total was the largest in over six months.

Shahpar said that about half of the doses given Thursday were booster shots.

Shahpar urged people to get vaccinations or get their booster shots.

After the Thanksgiving holiday and the first identification of the omicron variant on November 26, the number of vaccinations in the U.S. has increased.

When shots first became available in April, they peaked at 3.4 million, and received a boost with the arrival of the delta variant over the summer. The CDC recommends that all adults get a booster six months after the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two months after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, after the Food and Drug Administration authorized booster shots for all adults last month. The omicron variant was first identified in South Africa last week, and has since been confirmed in at least five states and 24 countries.
A majority. CDC data shows how many Americans are fully vaccineed. The number increased from 50% to 40% in four months, compared to less than a month to go from 30% to 40% between May and June.

We don't know what we don't know.

Scientists are trying to figure out how to protect against the omicron variant. Moderna could have an omicron-specific booster ready to present for U.S. authorization by March, according to President Stephen Hoge. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said in a Tuesday press conference that people could protect themselves against severe disease caused by the coronaviruses by getting vaccine and getting booster shots.

Several states confirm omicron cases as U.S. covid vaccinations spike.

The coronaviruses variant has now spread to five states.
