Five years after a wrong number led to a seat at Wanda Dench's thanksgiving dinner, the story is being turned into a feature film by the streaming giant. Variety states that a cast or director are yet to be announced for The Thanksgiving Text, but that it will be written by Abdul Williams.

The Thanksgiving Text is a film that draws inspiration from online content. Zola turned a social media thread into a movie. Bad Ass, a film based on the AC Transit Bus Fight video, is one of many examples in a 2015 article from Gizmodo.

Know Your Meme has a detailed rundown of the story. The short version is that in 2016 a series of text messages were posted by Jamal Hinton, in which Wanda Dench mistakenly invited him to a Thanksgiving dinner, thinking he was her grandson. Can I still get a plate? Dench responded, "Of course you can." That is what grandma does... feed everyone.

Dench has invited Hinton's girlfriend and family to Thanksgiving since they struck up a friendship, with the two having spent Thanksgiving together in the past. Variety says that the pair have become minor internet celebrities, with over 150,000 followers on the social networking site.

The two were happy with the news of the adaptation. Dench and Hinton said in a statement that they were excited to share their story. We hope that it will encourage more people to make connections that they wouldn't normally make. We are blessed to have a friendship that was brought together by a mistaken text message.

There is a series being produced by The Verge.
