The game was locked to 30 frames per second on the devices. Many phones can run the game at a higher frame rate, but support can be hit and miss. Pokémon Go ran better on the phone.

The only iPhones with 120Hz ProMotion displays are the 13 Pro and Pro Max. It is possible to get the frame rate unlocked on my old 8 Plus, though the A11 processor doesn't always keep up a steady 60 frames per second.

The feature is switched off by default and not mentioned in the release notes of version . It is possible that allowing it for all users would cause complaints about the battery life of the app. It is worth giving the option a try if that is not a concern for you.
