The NBA has cleared the Los Angeles Lakers forward to play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday after he was cleared to return from his health and safety protocols.

James entered the league's protocols after returning conflicting test results, including a positive COVID-19 test. He returned multiple negative COVID-19 tests, which allowed him to return to the court.

James was due to play against the Kings on Tuesday, but he had negative test results after returning to L.A. The Sans James, L.A. team moved to 12-11 on the year.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium said that James' initial positive test was not conclusive.

At the Lakers' media day, James told reporters that he thought it was the best decision for his family and friends to get the vaccine.

James would need to return two negative tests at least 24 hours apart or sit for at least 10 days according to the initial report. James is back with the team after missing just one game because of the negative test results.

In his 19th NBA season, the 17-time All-Star is averaging 25.8 points, 6.8 assists and 5.2 rebound.

The Lakers list him as probable to return because of his abdominal strain.

L.A. is back in the court Friday at 10 p.m. The 11-11 Clippers will play at the LA Clippers arena.
