A Baffling Number of “Stars” Are Actually Spacecraft

There is a good chance that you have seen a string of bright star-like objects moving in a straight line.
Those are not stars. One astronomer predicts that they will soon be crowding the night sky even more.

One out of every 15 points of light in the sky will soon be a satellite according to an essay written by an astronomer. She believes that the rise of Starlink and other satellite companies will have a big impact on space research.
She wrote that this will be devastating to research astronomy and will change the night sky worldwide.

Regulation of stars.

A new paper by the lead author on a new paper is slated to be published in The Astronomical Journal showcasing evidence for the grim stargazing implications for satellite megaconstellations.

It is crucial that regulatory bodies limit the amount of visible satellites in the sky, because companies such as SpaceX help provide internet access to areas of the world that might not otherwise receive it. She wrote that the view of the stars would soon be changed forever.

She wrote that they can't accept the loss of access to the night sky, which they've been able to see and connect with for as long as they've been human.

She has a point as well. There is a lot of trash around the Earth. Starlink satellites have had to dodge debris.

The real question is whether lawmakers will do anything about it. Their history of reacting to issues such as climate change indicates that it might be a long time before it happens.
