Hochul encouraged people to get their Covid-19 vaccine or booster shot and continued wearing masks.

She said earlier Thursday that anyone who attended the convention last month should get tested, but she didn't specify if the cases were related to the convention.

Hochul declared a state of emergency in New York after the World Health Organization identified a new strain of coronaviruses. Hospitals with limited capacity will be able to limit non-urgent procedures, and the state will be able to get critical supplies to combat the Pandemic. Hochul said at the time that the omicron variant is coming and these preparations should help expand hospital capacity for those who need it.
