After the conclusion of his spell as interim manager, Michael Carrick will leave the club.
The 40-year-old walked away just minutes after he took charge of Thursday night's 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Old United.
During his time at United, he won five titles, including the FA Cup and the Club World Cup, as well as two League Cups and the European Championship.
He said his time at the club was the best of his career. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would win so many trophies as a player and as a member of the coaching team, but I will never forget the amazing memories I had as a player and a member of the coaching team.
After a lot of thought and consideration, I have decided that it is time for me to leave the club.
I would like to thank all of the players, the backroom staff, and of course the fans, I have made some great friends, and working long hours with such a great group of people has been a pleasure.
