All Elite Wrestling was in Atlanta for its latest show.
The Atlanta Street Fight featured a bout betweenCody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo. Would the hometown boy be treated as a hero or villain, booed in the same city where his father clashed with other wrestlers, as he has been everywhere else he has competed of late?
Bryan Danielson, who battled another hometown hero in Dark Order's Alan "5 Angels", was destined to face jeers. Would The American Dragon be able to continue his winning ways while Adam Page watched on from the commentary position?
This recap will give you the answer to the questions that were posed in the December 1 episode.

Chants of "Alan Angels" were heard from the stands as Dark Order's 5 competed in his hometown to kick off the show, battling Bryan Danielson in the same arena in which he graduated high school.
The American Dragon dominated the hometown hero from the beginning. Angels fought back with a tope suicida and a moonsault plancha from the top rope. He was near-fall after a standing Spanish Fly.
Danielson delivered a knee strike to the face after another moonsault missed. He stomped on his opponent's face before applying a kneebar.
After the bell, Tony Schiavone and Danielson went into the ring. I kicked his ass if that's the best Atlanta has to offer. He promised to show the world that Hangman Page is a one-hit-wonder before kicking Dark Order members' heads.
Page was prevented from touching Danielson by John Silver, but he rushed the ring in an attempt to get on the heel. Danielson refused to fight Page because he didn't want to see the jerks.
Result.
The Angels were defeated by Danielson.

Angels are always good in these spots. The babyface that excelled in fighting from underneath creates the impression that he can upset the more established star at any time and the fans invest in the idea of the impossible as a result. One day, he will win one of these matches and the AEW faithful will erupt.
Danielson was taunting everyone in his general area. He is a better villain than he was as a babyface. His interactions with Page, in which he has come up with an excuse every time to avoid an actual fight, have been stellar and are planting the seeds for a heated match on December 15 at Winter Is Coming.

After a big win over Nick Comoroto, Lee Moriarty fought the defining match of his career against CM Punk. Before the contest began, MJF went to the commentary position to look at his new opponent.
Punk was criticized by the MJF for being outwrestled by Moriarty. Every time Punk appeared to build steam, Moriarty cut him off, and MJF wondered where the killer instinct in the Chicago native was.
A crossbody was countered into a rollup by Moriarty. Punk was 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 Why has this match lasted so long? MJF continued his attack on the wrestler.
Punk was kicked in the face and drove into the mat by the underdog, who could only keep him down for two. Punk escaped his opponent's grasp and countered into the Go To Sleep for the pinfall victory.
Punk was accused of trying to get in Baker's pants and called One Punk Chump. The Straight Edge Superstar challenged MJF to come to the ring. The Salt of the Earth said Punk needs more than he needs. You haven't had a spark since 2011.
Punk in Chicago,Piper in Portland and Bret in Canada were all better than MJF.
Result.
Punk defeated Moriarty.

Outside of putting him over Punk, you can't possibly book him any stronger than he was here.
The six-year veteran dominated the action, nearly beat Punk on several occasions and had fans believing they may see an upset late in the match. He was up to the challenge of sharing the ring with one of the biggest stars of the last decade and earned himself any and all rave reviews he will get as a result.
The MJF promo was good, but it felt like he was grasping at low-hanging fruit. Punk has a wife at home that everyone is aware of, so the lines from the Britt Baker line were not understandable.
The verbal back and forth did not have the punch of last week's match but the appearance of Wardlow at the end of the segment set up Punk for a match with the jacked-up heavyweight sooner rather.

Orange Cassidy interrupted Adam Cole's attempt to join the commentary team, only to end up on the receiving end of a three-on-one beatdown. Chuck Taylor and Wheeler Yuta saved their best friend by chasing the heels off with steel chairs.
Shawn Spears and Wardlow made their way to the ring to face AC Adams.
Wardlow put his opponent down with four consecutive powerbombs and went on to win.
Result.
Wardlow defeated Adams.

This worked if the goal was to continue presenting Wardlow as a dominant badass. It reminds fans of the force he is ahead of the inevitable match with Punk, and it also puts him back in front of cameras. That booking will help the match.
It would be great to see Wardlow involved in something of substance, but there have been plenty of teases of him growing tired of MJF. He will be in a better position when he finally has had enough and splits from his loudmouth.
It's most likely that he's more ready.
Fans who think Cole needs to be involved in something more significant but the matches should be fun may not be satisfied by the Superkliq. His chemistry with Orange Cassidy was on full display last Friday on Rampage and that match will be hot.

The feud between Sting and the Allin family culminated in a fight with Billy and Colten. The father and brother were accompanied by Austin.
The heels took control of the bout after the commercial break, thanks to an ill-advised springboard Coffin Drop and a tag to Allin. The former champion made the hot tag to The Icon, who exploded into the match and unloaded on the competition. Austin entered the ring behind the official and wiped Sting out with a shot to the face after he trapped Colten in the Deathlock.
Billy followed up with a Fameasser, but Colten could not score the pin.
Allin wiped out Austin, Billy delivered a blow to Colten that set him up for the Death Drop, and Sting secured the win.
Chris Jericho was lying in a steel chair after being attacked by 2.0 and Daniel Garcia.
Result.
The Gunn Club was defeated by Sting and Allin.

This was a great match that gave young Colten a chance to wrestle one of the top stars in AEW and a living legend. It kept Sting and Allin busy, but there was no obvious next feud for them.
Hopefully, this was the end of the feud.
The Gunn Club is a solid group that has its place in AEW but also feels like a step down for what is a genuine main event attraction. They were elevated by Sting and Allin and could serve as a quality addition to the tag team division.

Ruby Soho and Kris Statlander battled it out in the last quarterfinals of the Championship Tournament, in a match that was very popular among women in AEW.
The opening moments of the match were dominated by back and forth action.
Statlander dropped Soho with a blue thunder bomb and then drove her back to the mat. Ruby fought back and looked for her No Future finish, but Statlander countered and looked to finish her opponent with the Big bang Theory.
Soho won the hard-fought battle.
The victor extended her hand in a sign of respect and Statlander accepted. As the extraterrestrial competitor was making her way up the ramp, she was confronted by the man who would prevent her from coming to Soho's aid, the man who would prevent her from coming to Soho's aid, the man who would prevent her from coming to Soho's aid Once she realized what was happening, Statlander hit the ring.
Result.
Soho defeated Statlander.

The work from Soho and Statlander was good, but it felt like a match that was just beginning when it went into the finishing sequence. The competitors would have been able to shine if there was another 10 or so minutes to be had here.
Soho winning was the correct call.
It had been a few weeks since she competed on television, which halted some of the momentum she built up early in her AEW run. A win of this magnitude against an opponent of Statlander's caliber helped turn the tide in her favor.

The Atlanta Street Fight that started with a brawl down the entrance ramp, through the crowd and to the ringside area was the latest chapter in the rivalry betweenCody Rhodes and Andrade El Idolo.
Rhodes was hit with a weight belt by El Ilios, then hit with a laptop. Rhodes hit the other with a low blow. The American Nightmare sent a steel chair crashing into El Idolo after he tried for a moonsault.
Rhodes was busted open by a chair shot from El Idolo, but he was able to retrieve a sledgehammer from underneath the ring and toss it aside. He chose a golden shovel. Jose tried to use a taser on Rhodes but he ate the shovel instead. He wiped out his opponent on the floor after flying over the ringpost.
Back inside, Andrade delivered a running knee attack, driving a chair back into the face of Rhodes. The hometown hero was suffering through a table that was introduced byCody.
After setting up another table, Andrade put his son on it. Rhodes crotched him on the top rope and then his wife entered the ring and set the table on fire. While a piece of his arm was on fire, Rhodes proceeded to deliver an inverted suplex off the top rope, through the table, for the win.
Result.
Rhodes defeated El Idolo.

The analysis was done.
The adults involved in this match decided that the Rhodes-El Idolo feud was so hot that it needed a flaming table spot. That conclusion was not necessary and was only there so that he could star in his hometown.
There was nothing about the feud to this point that suggested it needed to go to that extreme. There were many finishes that it could have gone with that would have been safer, spectacular, and gave Rhodes the win.
We got a conclusion that was over the top.
The brawl leading up to it was really good. It was the best match of the year for Rhodes and the best match for Andrade since the first match. The brawl turned the hostile crowd back in the favor ofCody.
Rhodes showed the right emotion. He was passionate, fed off the positive reaction and brought the fire to the match. The opponent for him to have this match with was the perfect one.
Why they went for the extravagant finish instead of just having a street fight with a simple yet effective finish is a question someone will surely try to answer at some point.
Where were Black and Pac, who have played key roles in the feud but were not present?
B/Rs recommend.
