A former Marine pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers on January 6 after saying he was '50/50' on whether or not he regretted his actions

A former Marine pleaded guilty in federal court in Washington, DC, on Wednesday to a number of charges.

According to court documents, Kevin Douglas Creek struck, pushed, and kicked police officers who were trying to protect the Capitol during the attack by a mob of President Donald Trump's supporters.

Creek, who is from Georgia, was arrested in June and charged with assault, as well as disorderly and disruptive conduct and physical violence on the Capitol grounds, among other charges. His guilty plea resulted in the dropping of the additional charges.

The criminal complaint said that Creek "physically abused law enforcement officers who were carrying out official duties" on the day of the insurrection.

The complaint included body camera footage of a man identified as Creek kicking an officer who was trying to prevent him from attacking other officers.

According to the complaint, Creek visited a hospital after the riot and said he had been teargassed at the Capitol.
The videos of the assaults on officers were shown to Creek by the FBI. The complaint said that Creek did not remember attacking any officer at the Capitol on January 6. He told the FBI that he had a boot knife and was at the Capitol.

The complaint said Creek replied "50/50" when asked if he regretted his conduct.

Creek could face up to eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is in March of 2022.

More than 700 people have been charged in the Capitol riot.
