The New York Mets had been home to Stroman since he was traded to the team from the Blue Jay's. After sitting out the COVID-19-pandemic-shortened 2020 season, he joined the team in 2021.

The 30-year-old went 10-13 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 158 strikeouts in 33 starts in 2021.
In 179 career games, Stroman has a 3.63 earned run average and 1.27 WHIP. He was one of the best pitchers available on the open market.

The Cubs' rotation could look like this in 2022.

Kyle is the son of Kyle.
Marcus Stroman is a man.
Wade andMiley are related.
Adbert Alzolay.
Alec Mills and Justin Steele are related.

The Mets wanted to bring him back in 2022, but his price tag was too high. The team has other areas it needs to address, and they couldn't have done that if they re-signed Stroman.
After his final start of the season, he talked about the possibility of staying with the Mets or moving on to a new team.

He said he was open to anything. I can't wait to be on a team where I know I'll be there for a long time.

The Cubs had been linked to him throughout the winter, so it should come as no surprise that he chose to sign with Chicago.
