Arizona Diamondbacks, MLB saves leader Mark Melancon agree to two-year, $14 million deal



A source told Jeff Passan that Mark Melancon and the Arizona Diamondbacks are in agreement on a two-year, 14 million dollar contract.

Melancon led Major League Baseball in saves last season with 39 for the San Diego Padres.

In his first season with the San Diego franchise, he went 4-3 with a 2.33 earned run in 6223 hours of work.

He is fourth among active pitchers in saves.

Over the course of 13 major league seasons, the four-time All-Star is 34-30 with a 2.79 earned run average for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, Washington Nationals and Padres.
