According to a source, Antonio Brown is expected to be out for at least two more weeks.
Brown has not played since Week 6 due to an ankle injury, but coach Bruce Arians said Wednesday that the wide receiver is actually dealing with a different injury than first thought.
The seven-time Pro Bowler, who led the league in receiving yards in the past two years, is doubtful to play this week.
"It was more of a different injury than we thought," he said. A bruise. There are some issues in the heel.
It's not the same as the one he said on the radio last week, when he said, "I've got my fingers crossed for next week against Atlanta."
If the Bucs had known the extent of the injury, they would have placed him on injured reserve, which would have put him out for three weeks.
Doctors had expected a six-week recovery. He's been ruled out for six weeks since he suffered the injury. The Los Angeles Rams game was missed by Brown due to COVID-19.
In five games this season, Brown has 29 catches for 418 receiving yards and four touchdown.
The turning point in the Bucs' season came in Week 15 last year, when Brown had 93 receiving yards and a touchdown at the Falcons. Tom Brady has won four times in his career when trailing by 17 or more points at halftime.
