Adrian Peterson, a future Hall of Fame running back, was released by the TennesseeTitans last week.

The news was reported by Mike Garafolo.

After Henry had foot surgery in early November, he was unable to work for the rest of the year.

The three-time NFL rushing champion failed to make a difference in Tennessee. He had a total of 82 rushing yards on 27 carries with one touchdown. He had four catches for eight yards.

"I'm blessed to be in this situation, and I'm happy about it," he said after the Week 10 win over the New Orleans Saints. They were showing a lot of love today. I want everyone to know that I will continue to get better and keep pressing forward.

He hasn't been at his best for a long time, but he has been effective in recent seasons.

He scored seven times in 16 games for the Detroit Lions last year despite averaging a lackluster 3.9 YPC, despite rushing for 1,940 yards and 12 touchdown in two years with the Washington Football Team.

Chris Carson was ruled out for the rest of the season because of a neck injury, and the Seahawks are looking for backfield depth.

Seattle has used four different players to fill the void with only modest success. The team ran the ball just 12 times in Sunday's loss to Washington, and averaged just 2.8 YPC.

He'd provide a veteran option as the team attempts to make a late-season surge, but he wouldn't be a lock to vastly improve the team's rushing attack.

Seattle has lost three in a row since its bye. Wilson hasn't looked like his usual Pro Bowl self since his return from a finger injury.

With the Hawks potentially needing to win out for a shot at the playoffs, any reinforcement who could provide a spark to the offense is worth considering.
