Jacqueline Avant, Wife Of Music Titan Clarence Avant, Killed During Home Burglary

Multiple news outlets are reporting that the wife of a music executive and mother-in-law of a company's CEO were shot and killed during a home invasion and robbery in Beverly Hills.

The Beverly Hills Police Department found a victim with a gunshot wound at the scene, but the suspects had fled by the time they arrived.

Paramedics took the victim to the hospital, but he died there.

The victim of the incident was identified by the company as 81-year-old Jacqueline Avant.

Beverly Hills Police said it extends its deepest sympathies to the family.

Clarence Avant was married to Avant in 1967. He is known as the "Black Godfather" of the music industry for his role in launching the careers of some of the greatest Black artists including Michael Jackson, Terry Lewis and Babyface. The Black Godfather, a documentary on the life of the couple's daughter Nicole, was produced by her husband. He received an award from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

A recent string of home burglaries in the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills areas prompted the Los Angeles Police Chief to create a task force of more than 20 detectives. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star was robbed at her home in October. According to NBC News, thieves broke in through a window and stole valuables worth $1 million. According to Deadline, thieves tried to rob the host at his home, but he was able to flee in his car.

The details of the robbery will be discussed at a news conference on Wednesday.
