United Airlines will resume daily non-stop services between Scotland and the US in the spring of 2019.
There are daily flights between Edinburgh and New York/Newark.
On May 7th, the seasonal daily summer services from Edinburgh to Chicago and Washington D C will start again.
The airline will have 169 seats on the Scottish routes.
United claims to be the first airline to resume service between Scotland and the US, with more flights than any other airline.
The director of UK and Ireland said that they would resume nonstop services from Edinburgh to the United States in 2022.
Customers in Edinburgh can now take advantage of direct connections to the US, as well as an unparalleled route network from United's hubs at New York/Newark, Chicago and Washington D C, offering convenient connections to 129 destinations across the Americas.
Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh airport chief executive, said: "It's incredibly exciting to be resuming our transatlantic services with United to allow direct travel between Scotland and the USA for the first time in two years."
It will allow families to come back to each other and allow friends to come back to each other.
