Do Ring devices work with Google Assistant?

The ring is a source.

Ring devices work with the Google Assistant. Ring has an official app for the Google Assistant that links all of your devices to your Ring account, and you can use it in your home.

Nick Sutrich is the source.

Your favorite smart assistant is only as good as the devices it supports, and that goes for our favorite, the Google Assistant. Ring is owned by Amazon, the same company that owns and operates the popular voice activated devices. As they are direct competitors in the same space, you will not be able to perform as many commands with both of them.

That doesn't mean you can't use the assistant. Quite the opposite. You can get an official Ring app here. Once you add that app to your account, you will be able to control your Ring devices from your phone, and you will also be able to sign in to Ring.

There are a few commands that you can ask the assistant to perform that will control your Ring devices. The first command should be "Hey Google, talk to Ring" followed by the second. Say, "Hey, talk to Ring about the health of my devices" to get the current battery level of all Ring devices linked to your account."

"Hey Google, talk to Ring about starting a new recording" is one of the supported commands. When the doorbell rang, you can ask about the last time it rang. You can turn on or off Ring alert without having to open your Ring app. If you're talking to your Google Assistant, you can use these simple steps to operate your Ring devices with just your voice.

There is one problem.

Amazon

There is one big command missing that could very well be a deal-breaker for many people, and it is not available in the Ring devices. Ring doesn't support casting video to any device. This includes devices from the Chromecast, Home Hub, and Nest Hub brands. If someone presses the button on your Ring Video Doorbell, you will need to pull out your phone to see who is at the front door or to talk to them.

Fire TV, Fire Sticks, and the Amazon Echo Show can be used to view Ring Video Doorbell or Ring Stick Up Camera footage. It's easy to see who is at your front door if you have a compatible Fire device with you. If you want to show the video from any device on your Ring account, you can ask the speaker to show it to you on your TV, or on your Echo Show. Most people will be disappointed with the one command that is missing from the integration.

Ring devices in a smart home run by the Google Assistant is fine. Combining the two will not give you the full function of the Ring or the Google Assistant, but it may not be a deal-breaker. If you want to see the video from your Ring Video Doorbell or Nest Stick Up Cameras on a screen, you may want to consider using an Amazon device that works with your Ring devices. You could get some Nest devices that work with your Assistant devices.

Get alert by pressing the button.

Ring was the pioneer in wireless video doorbells, and many will agree that the fourth-generation Ring Video Doorbell 4 is the best wireless doorbell yet from Ring.

For every corner.

Are you looking for cameras indoors? How about outside? The Ring Stick Up Camera can be used in any situation, and its battery-powered nature makes it easy to install.

You will want to talk to that one.

The assistant is amazing. Talking to your Google Assistant is almost as good as talking to a person, even in a much smaller form, because of its wide range of knowledge.
