New features coming soon to the platform include new features for music, books, and photos, as well as new features for auto features, and more. In a post, the company detailed the new features.

The biggest car-based addition is that from today, owners of the Pixel, 6 Pro, and S21 will be able to use their phones as car keys in select countries. In May, it was announced that the car key feature for the upcoming version of the OS would work with BMW. The feature will be available on all BMW 2020 & 2022 model year vehicles, and it hopes to add more compatible vehicles in the future.

There is an option to have the car-friendly interface automatically launch when a phone is connected to the vehicle, a new play button on the homescreen, and a new search icon to quickly find music.

New features are coming to the phone screen of the YouTube Music, Google Play Books, and Google Photos apps. The music and books widgets give you access to your music and books. Next week, there will be a new Google Photos widget that will show pictures of select people and pets from your library. The new feature will show photos and videos of events like New Years Eve within the standard photo grid interface.

The alarm-like reminder system that can be broadcast from smart speakers and displays is being updated to work on mobile devices.

The new permissions-reset feature on older phones is an update that automatically turns off the permission for apps you haven't used in a while. The feature is already available for devices that are running the newer version of the operating system, but will be expanded to devices that are running the older version next month. The expansion would begin in December.

The new features are being released in a variety of different times, ranging from today for the BMW car key feature to the coming months for the Android Auto voice search and smart replies features.
