The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control said in a statement that the omicron variant of coronaviruses was found in three test samples.
The director-general of the Nigeria CDC said that one case was detected in a sample taken from a traveler coming to Nigeria.
The NCDC did not give any other details on the traveler, who was one of three travelers arriving from South Africa last week.
The public was urged to be on high alert by the NCDC.
