New York Knicks upset with officiating in loss to Brooklyn Nets

Play.

The Nets had Julius Randle up late.

Julius Randle was assessed a technical foul in the final minutes against Brooklyn. (0:38)

The Knicks' Julius Randle and coach Tom Thibodeau walked off the floor at the end of the game after they were upset with the refs.

He had 24 points, nine rebound, and eight assists, but only went to the line twice. The Knicks' star forward initially didn't want to talk about the refs until he was asked if he was surprised he wasn't getting the calls he deserved.

"I have to ask them," said Randle of the crew of Scott Foster, Mark Lindsay and Jason Goldenberg. I don't know what they're watching. I can't be punished for being stronger than people because I played aggressive and attacked the paint. That is the answer I got today.

The crew told him that his stature and strength were the reason he wasn't getting more calls.

"They said that contact doesn't affect me like it affects other players," he said. They miss the calls because I am stronger.

When asked what his reaction would be when he heard that, he said, "It pisses me off even more." That is not how you conduct the game.

When he spoke with reporters after the game, Randle was calm, but Thibodeau was upset and frustrated. The Nets went to the free-throw line 25 times more than the Knicks.

The most important thing that set Thibodeau off was how Randle was calling the game.

"I want to watch the film, but it's not right," he said. I don't know why. I don't know. The Nets are a good team. They played well. Julius is driving that ball very hard.

I'm angry.

The game was tied at 105-all with 1:36 remaining in the fourth when he was assessed a technical foul for thinking he was going to get a foul on a missed shot. After that, Kevin Durant sank an 18-footer and then sank a technical free throw after being called for a technical.

Knicks teammates walked over to calm him down.

When asked about the technical foul, Randle said that he saw what happened. Everybody saw what happened. I don't need to talk about it. You all saw what happened.

He did not want the focus to be on the officials. He described what it was like when smaller defenders tried to guard him.

When smaller players are guarding the bigger players, they get away with a lot more. Certain things are more blatant. If you slap a guy, it's going to affect him. I don't want to talk about them. I want to play hard, play with energy and lead my team. I can't let my technicians affect how effective we are.

James Johnson made the first of two free throws with 2.2 seconds left to give the Knicks a victory. The Nets held on after blowing a 16-point lead.

James Harden made 9 of 10 shots from the free-throw line and scored 34 points for the Nets.

I can tell you that there is a discrepancy in free throws, but I want to look at the film. Julius got two free throws when he drove the ball.

I don't care what the game is called. I don't. You can call it tight. It can be called loose. It has to be the same.
