It's hard to imagine Freddie Freeman in another uniform, he's a free agent. One team is trying to get the first baseman away from Atlanta.
Jon Heyman of the MLB Network reported Tuesday that the New York Yankees are interested in the Braves first baseman, though they acknowledge it's likely he won't be allowed to leave. Heyman said that the deal is in the range of $180 million over six years.
Heyman speculated that if he were to leave Atlanta, he would play for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He has been with the Braves for 12 years. He helped lead the team to its first World Series title since 1995 this past season, so it wouldn't be a surprise if he wanted to finish his career in his hometown.
The veteran has not slowed down. He followed up his NL Most Valuable Player season with a.300 batting average and 31 home runs.
A Yankees lineup full of right-handed pitchers would be a good fit for the lefty power bat of Freddie Freeman. The New York Mets tried to add balance by acquiring first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Chicago Cubs and outfielder Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers at the July trade deadline.
In 49 games, he hit eight homers for the Yankees. He is currently a free agent after the team chose not to extend his contract. Gallo had a.160 average and 13 home runs in 58 games.
The Yankees have a lot of holes to fill, and a lot of big names are already off the board, including Seager and Semien. Adding a star like that would make a big deal for the fans hoping to see New York in the World Series.
