Cardiff plan to leave South Africa on Thursday

The Lions and Stormers were to play in South Africa.

After securing a charter flight and self-isolation accommodations in England, they are planning to leave South Africa on Thursday morning.

They were stuck in Cape Town because of the positive tests.

The players have been in a hotel in South Africa.

There is another round of tests.

If any of the other 48 people in the party test positive for the disease, they will join the duo and stay in South Africa for a 10-day period.

The club secured a charter flight and a place to stay in England after leaving Cape Town.

South Africa was placed on the UK's red list and borders were closed to arrivals from six countries on the continent, leaving the Blue and Blacks' travelling contingent stranded in the city.

They were supposed to leave on a flight with the other teams on Sunday, but two positive cases ruled them out.

A charter flight has been confirmed for Thursday morning, working in collaboration with the United Rugby Championship and the Welsh Rugby Union.

The capital city club of Wales will be isolated in a UK Government Covid-19 hotel for 10 days after arriving in England.

Those remaining in South Africa will be given a 10-day stay in a South African Covid-19 hotel and will be returned to the UK as soon as possible.

The URC, WRU and government agencies in South Africa have supported the rugby team.

The two weekends of the United Rugby Championship in South Africa were postponed on Friday due to the detection of the Omicron variant.

South Africa is now on the red list for travel into England after UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid said last Friday that six countries would be on it.

The Welsh government adopted travel rules which state that any British resident who arrives after 04:00 on Sunday must stay in a hotel.

The two teams missed the deadline and were going to return on the same flight on Sunday.

Elune Morgan did not have any Covid-19 exceptions for the squad.

The positive tests in the party meant that they were not able to travel, but the Scarlets were able to get to Dublin on a flight and will be able to travel on Friday, 10 December.

While the Scarlets returned to Italy on the same flight as the Zebre, they too recorded nine positive tests on Tuesday, taking their total to 10.

The Welsh government said that self-isolating in Wales was not possible because there were no hotels with sterilizable rooms.

The Welsh government has been accused of showing "appalling empathy and support" by leading figures in the city.

The ability of Toulouse to travel to Wales on the same day as the Scarlets is in question.

The 32 players in the squad that traveled to South Africa will not be involved in the game because they are still in the middle of the opening weekend of European games.

Toulouse will likely win the match 28-0 and will get five match points, but Cardiff will still consider fielding a side against the French team.

The European Professional Club Rugby are in constant touch with the clubs and are monitoring the situation.
