3 Students Were Killed And 6 Others Injured In A Shooting At A Michigan High School

Three students were killed and six other people were injured in a shooting at a high school in Michigan. A student has been arrested.

Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said at a press conference that law enforcement received more than 100 calls about the shooting at Oxford High School. The 15-year-old sophomore at the school was taken into custody after the shooting.

A teacher was injured. The injured have been taken to the hospital.

The 15-year-old invoked their right to remain silent after being arrested. Law enforcement recovered a semi-automatic handgun from him.

The village of Oxford is located north of Detroit. In the event of a shooting, doors were marked, students and teachers barricaded themselves, and the school was well-prepared.

He said that you have to prepare for something like this.

The American Public Health Association has labeled gun violence in the US a public health crisis. It is the leading cause of death in the country. Data from the Gun Violence Archive shows that at least 40,952 people have died from gun violence this year.

The shooting at Oxford High is the latest in a long line of school killings. According to research from Everytown for Gun Safety, there have been at least 28 deaths and 80 injuries caused by gunfire on school grounds this year.

The teen acted alone, but investigators are still trying to figure out a motive.

The governor of Michigan called the shooting "horrific" and said she was "heartbroken" for the Oxford High community.

"As Michiganders, we have a responsibility to do everything we can to protect each other from gun violence," she said. There are tools to reduce gun violence in Michigan. We need to come together and help our children feel safe at school.
