Ellen White breaks Lionesses goal record

Ellen White scored against Latvia.

Ellen White became England Women's all-time top scorer after scoring two goals against Latvia.

Kelly Smith is the leading Lionesses scorer with 47 goals, one ahead of White.

The Manchester City player has scored eight goals in six games.

White's goals have come in 101 appearances, 16 fewer than Smith needed to reach the same total.

She scored her first international goal more than a decade ago, in a win over Austria in March 2010, and has gone on to score at a rate of almost one goal every two games.

White scored 58 times in 126 games for five different teams in the Women's Super League.

Had she not suffered an anterior cruciate injury that ruled her out for the WSL season, she would have broken the record earlier.
