Kennedy won five league titles and three European Cups during his eight-year spell at Anfield, where he scored 72 goals in 393 appearances.

Kennedy was said to be "legendary" in a club statement.

John Aldridge said thatRay Kennedy was a player and a man who suffered a lot with Parkinson's disease. He will never walk alone.

On the same day Bill Shankly resigned as manager, Kennedy joined the club as a forward.

Kennedy was switched to left midfield by Bob Paisley after two years after he joined the club.

Kennedy was one of the greatest players in the history of the club, according to Paisley.

Kennedy spent time as a player-manager of Pezoporikos in Cyprus before he left the club.
