The Detroit Tigers are managed by a former Astros skipper. Jon Heyman of the MLB Network reported that they agreed to a six-year, $140 million deal with Javier Baez on Tuesday.
Over the past nine months, the market for elite shortstops has exploded. The first benchmark was set by Fernando Tatis Jr., who signed a 14-year extension with the Padres worth $340 million.

On Monday, Jeff Passan reported that Seager had agreed to a 10-year, $325 million deal with the Texas Rangers.

Since 2015, when he had a minimum of 2,000 plate appearances, Correa ranks fourth in on-base percentage and fifth in slugging percentage. He earned his first career Gold Glove award for his 20 defensive runs saved in 2021.
Over the past two seasons, Correa has missed just 16 games because of injuries, which is more than the 192 games he missed in the previous two seasons.
The Astros and their players are not known by any team. He was the top pick in the 2012 draft. He helped the team win the World Series in 2017, after he was named the American League's Freshman of the Year in 2015.
