According to sources, Virginia Tech is interested in hiring Penn State's defensive coach, Brent Pry.
Pry would be the new coach at the Hokies, who went 43-31 in six seasons under Fuente. The deal is in the works, but not done yet, according to sources.
Pry has helped produce top 25 units in total defense in eight of the past 12 seasons, including four at Penn State, three at Vanderbilt and one at Georgia Southern. The Nittany Lions are giving up more than 16 points per game.
The Hokies were focused on Pry after two candidates declined interest in the job. The head-coaching position at Florida was accepted by the head-coaching position at the Demon Deacons.
Pry has been a coach for 30 years and has worked for James Franklin at both Penn State and Vanderbilt. Pry was a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech.
The Hokies beat Virginia on the road last week. J.C. Price will be the interim coach.
