Michigan's win over Ohio State gave Harbaugh a $500,000 bonus.

He would add another $1 million for winning the Big Ten and $500,000 for reaching the College Football Playoff if Michigan beats Iowa on Saturday.

Harbaugh looked like he was on shaky ground last year. The team lost to Penn State and didn't play its last three games.

The financial burden on Michigan if it wanted to fire him after the 2021 season was alleviated by the new contract that lowered his salary.

Harbaugh may have salvaged his tenure by betting on himself, and Monday's gesture is another way for him to bolster his popularity.
