Bill Cosby Prosecutors Want U.S. Supreme Court to Review Overturned Conviction

The highest court in the land is being asked to review the case of Bill Cosby, who was acquitted of sexual assault charges.

The PA Supreme Court's ruling that overturned Cosby's conviction is being asked to be looked at by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Cosby walked free in June after serving more than two years of a 10-year sentence for sexual assault. The conviction was thrown out by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania because Cosby relied on an agreement with a previous prosecutor to not criminally charge him.

Prosecutors are arguing that the US Supreme Court should correct what they say is a "grievous wrong" because it could set a dangerous precedent.

They insist that Cosby wasn't given lifetime immunity from prosecution because the former prosecutor declined to criminally charge him.

It was.

The appeal is for prosecutors. There's still a chance, however slim, that the U.S. Supreme Court hears less than 1% of petitions.

The D.A.'s Office is unwilling to accept its epic loss, and that's why Cosby's spokesman is calling it apathetic last-ditch effort that will not prevail.
